Buying and swapping safely

• Meet in a public place in daylight: a cafe, a bookshop, a busy chowk. Bring a friend if you like.
• If you can't meet, use a delivery service with cash on delivery, so you pay when the book is in your hands.
• Never pay before you have received the book, not by eSewa, Khalti, bank transfer or any other way, however convincing the story.
• Look the book over before you pay: pages, binding, that it's the edition you expected.
• Don't share more personal information than the exchange needs.
• If a post or a member seems wrong, use “Report this post”. Moderators look at every report.

No liability

We don't own, check, store, ship or sell any of the books, and we don't handle any money. Every sale or exchange is an agreement between the two members alone (how Purano Books works).

Purano Books is not responsible for any sale, exchange, payment, delivery or meeting arranged through the site, nor for the condition, authenticity or ownership of any book, nor for anything a member says or does. You use the site and deal with other members at your own risk.

Your part

• List only books you own and can hand over, with honest photos and condition.
• No counterfeit or pirated copies, no other goods, no advertising, no harassment.
• One account per person, with your own Google account, and only your own phone number.

We may hide posts and suspend accounts that break these rules, without notice.

Your details

You sign in with Google. When you do, Google gives us your name, your email address and your Google account ID, and nothing else; Google knows that you use Purano Books. We don't receive or store a password.

Your username, posts (with the district each book is in) and reading list are public. Your name, email, gender, bio and address (if you add one) are shown only to signed-in members, so a buyer can reach you. Your phone number is optional: it's shown to signed-in members only if you choose to show it, and you can hide it again at any time. We don't check phone numbers, so a number on the site isn't proof of who someone is.

You can change your details on your account page, and delete your account there at any time: it disappears from the site at once and is removed for good, photos included, 30 days later. Photos you upload are stored without their location data.

Changes

We may update these terms; the date at the top says when. Using the site after a change means you accept it.
